For the month of September 2023, the largest carmaker in the country was able to sell 11,736 units of the Grand Vitara. This is almost similar to how many units of the SUV were sold in August 2023. This proves that these numbers are constant and not just a one-time fluke. In comparison, Hyundai was able to sell 12,717 units of the Creta. The difference is around 1,000 sales. That is quite impressive since Creta has been the undisputed leader in this segment of our market for a long time now. Let us take a look at the sales figures of all SUVs in this category.

What We Think
The mid-size SUV segment is among the fastest-growing categories in the Indian automobile market. That is the reason why every carmaker wants to be a part of it. In fact, Citroen has also recently entered this segment with the C3 Aircross. Hence, every carmaker needs to bring its A-game if they wish to compete with the Koreans. However, this makes things interesting for the buyers. They get to choose between a vast variety of automobiles. There might even be mid-size SUVs from Mahindra and Tata Motors in the next few months.
